Conor Cunningham
Aodh Ruadh have installed former Kilcar manager Conor Cunningham as the new senior football team boss at Fr Tierney Park.
Cunningham was in charge in Towney for both the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Last year they were defeated by St Eunan’s in the semi-final of the Donegal SFC and this year they lost out to eventual champions Naomh Conaill in the last eight.
He replaces another Kilcar man, John McNulty, at the helm in Ballyshannon. McNulty led Aodh Ruadh back to Division 1 while the side suffered a SFC quarter-final elimination at the hands of St Eunan’s last term.
However, McNulty would step down soon after to take over the Donegal senior ladies side.
A club statement issued on Aodh Ruadh’s social media on Sunday evening confirmed Cunningham’s appointment.
“Aodh Ruadh are delighted to confirm the appointment of Conor Cunningham as senior football manager.
“A Kilcar man, Cunningham has managed his native club over the past couple of years. He is now looking forward to the challenge of taking the Aodh Ruadh senior team to the next stage in their development as they bid to build on recent years of steady progress in league and championship.
“We wish Conor and the squad the very best of luck for the coming season”.
