Ireland opened their Over 40s Woman’s International Rules series with Austraila with a commanding 65-9 success in Charlestown at the weekend, giving the Irish a huge 56-point advantage approaching this weekend’s second test in Denn, Co Cavan.
Diane McGlynn was in defence for the hosts while Maria Devenney was part of the management team on the sideline.
Ireland were also victorious in both men's Over 40s and 50s tests on Saturday. The Over 50s secured a dominant 63-9 victory in Curry, Co. Sligo while in Charlestown, Co. Mayo while it finished 65-23 in favour of the Irish Over 40s men.
The second tests take place in Denn, Co. Cavan next Saturday.
Donegal were represented by Paul Gallagher and Conor McShane for the Over 50s and Over 40s respectively.
Mark Cannon was a part of the Mens Over 50s management. The Over 50s Cup is named in memory of former Donegal International player, Charlie Gallagher, who passed to his reward much too early in 2022.
