Johnny McLoone, who will provide some of the experience on the Naomh Conaill side.
James Plumber Boyle, the Naomh Conaill C team is hoping to deliver silverware when they go head-to-head with St Eunans, in Friday night’s Senior C championship final in Convoy.
It is the last team standing for Plumber and his young team after the exit of Naomh Conail’s senior and senior B teams at the hands of St Eunan’s, in their respective championships.
“The pressure is on alright. We are the club’s last adult team standing and last adult team with a chance of delivering silverware,” admitted the Naomh Conaill boss at last week’s championship media briefing in Convoy.
Manager when Naomh Conaill won their one and only C championship back in 2021, Plumber is happy with their run.
“The championship was made up of two groups, one of three teams and one or four teams. We were in a group of four which became a group of three when Glenfin pulled out,” explained the Naomh Conaill boss.
“We played Termon down in the Burn Road and drew in what was a very tough game. We then played Ardara and beat them in Ardara.

“We then ended up on top of the group ahead of Termon on score difference and went straight through to the semi-final.
“MacCumhaill’s topped their group too. But we still ended up drawing each other in the semi-final and we beat them last weekend by four or five points.
“That was a good result because they have been in the last five finals and they beat us in the 2022 final.
“We have a fairly young team with a few older lads mixed in through them. Johnny McLoone is back again this year. Dermot Ward and Joe Kennedy are also part of the older guard in the squad and all the rest of the panel is all young lads.
“We use the C team as a development squad and it seems to be working.
“We are looking forward to the final and facing St Eunan’s. The fact that it is St Eunan’s adds that extra edge to the final.”
