Donegal boss Jim McGuinness and, right, Neil McGee
Neil McGee says he’s reserving judgment on the new Gaelic football rules but there is one that the Donegal selector says just has to go.
Donegal secured a first win on Kerry soil in 37 years at the weekend following a 0-23 to 1-18 victory over Jack O’Connor’s hosts.
The visitors led by four points at half-time after an end-to-end first period. And they managed to keep the scoreboard ticking over in the second half to claim the win, despite Diarmuid O'Connor scoring a late goal for the Kingdom as they attempted another late fightback.
It was Jim McGuinness’ side’s second runout under the Football Review Committee’s sharp new direction.
2012 All-Ireland winner McGee, also a three-time All-Star says it’s much too early to cast a definitive judgement.
However, he insists that there is one rule that has to be binned.

“Personally, I like a lot of it,” he told DonegalLive. “There will have to be tweaks. Handing the ball back to the opposition player; that has to go. The dissent one is good.
“The 12 versus 11 is also up for debate. I like the three versus three up top. At club level, it’ll be interesting to see how they handle all this.
“We’re seeing more long kickouts as well. I know we’d like to get more hands on the ball there in the middle, more control. But for spectators that’s probably exciting.
“From a coaching perspective, the core principles are still the same. At this minute, it’s game to game as the thing settles.
“The more experience of this - the end of the league say - we’ll see a bigger or more familiar picture”.
