Ennistymon CS 1-13
(after extra-time)
St Clare’s, Manorhamilton are All-Ireland Masita Schools’ C champions after an enthralling encounter with Ennistymon CS, Clare at Tuam Stadium, Galway on Saturday.
The side managed by Ballyshannon man, Shane Ward, needed extra-time to succeed after the sides finished level at 0-12 to 1-9 at the end of normal time.
Ward is assisted by Pettigo man Adam McBarron, who is part of the St Clare's backroom team.
St Clare’s led for most of the tie, 0-7 to 0-5 at half-time, but Ennistymon came back in the last quarter with a goal to force extra-time.
The sides were level again at the end of the first period of extra-time but a goal in the second period sent the Manorhamilton side to the title.
Jack Kelly was the scoring hero for the winners with 0-9.
It is a first All-Ireland success for coach Ward, who has managed the Leitrim seniors and U-21s and is currently coaching the Donegal U-20s as well as Derrygonnelly Harps in Fermanagh.
