Watch: Stand-side footage of O'Donoghue's late Mayo point - was it over?

The 'Ah Ref!' GAA page on Twitter posted a different view of the score that took Mayo back to a point down in the latter stages on Sunday

Watch: Stand-side footage of O'Donoghue's late Mayo point - was it over?

Spectators look on as Ryan O'Donoghue of Mayo prepares to take a free during the Allianz Football League Division 1 match

Firstly, let's empasize to being that we're not going to be the cat who cried over the spilled milk.

Last Sunday at Markievicz Park in Sligo, there were numerous talking points in the Allianz League opener between Mayo and Donegal, which finished in a draw, 0-11 apiece, with the side managed by James Horan coming back from five points down to earn a share of the spoils.

One of those talking points, pardon the pun, was Ryan O'Donoghue's penultimate point, which took Mayo back to within a one in the latter stages when things were coming to the boil.

At the time, there were protestations from Donegal's players, who claimed the ball had drifted to the left and wide. Declan Bonner, the Donegal manager, didn't complain too much either in the post-match interviews.

"From where I was I thought it had gone wide," he said. “But at the end of the day we had our chances, we should have been well clear at that stage. It's disappointing naturally enough that we didn't see it out. But listen we'll take the point and we'll move on.”

Afterwards, a clip from the stand side of the Sligo venue was posted on Twitter and, to be honest, only spotted it at our end now. Have a look to see. What do you think?

The television coverage on the day was difficult with viewers complaining over the wet camera lens and TG4, who broadcast the match live, replying to suggest they had done all within their means to show the match, in very trying conditions.

A Rob Hennelly free from the terraced side in injury time ended up levelling the match.

Either way, both sides left with a point and Donegal welcome Kildare on Sunday to Ballybofey, where they will be looking to continue an excellent run of form at MacCumhaill Park that has seen them not lose a fixture since 2010.
