The Donegal minors, after their successful opening round win over Fermanagh, face a tougher test this week when they travel to Kingspan Breffni Park on Saturday to take on Cavan.

Luke Barrett's side had a big win over Fermanagh - 2-13 to 0-7 - at the Donegal Training Centre in glorious conditions on Saturday last. Fermanagh were competitive in the first half but a goal a mere 11 seconds into the second half by Karl Joseph
Molloy killed the game as a contest and Donegal dominated from then on. They had led 0-8 to 0-4 at half-time.
But as Barrett pointed out afterwards, it was not the perfect performance with Fermanagh very strong around midfield.

"I suppose we were targeting performances more than results; I know that's kind of a cliche but we had no real idea where we were at. It was great to win but there's a lot to improve on the performance today, and I think that's a good place to be.

"There were times when we were excellent and we moved the ball well and there were times when we were a bit pedestrian. It was nice to get 60 minutes into the players and hopefully that will stand to them next week as we move on."
With a panel of 34, Barrett will be hoping to give as many as possible game time over the coming weeks with further games against Derry (26 March, away) and Sligo (April 4, home).

Among those to impress were full-forward Daithi Gildea while Conor McGinty and Ryan Barrett were also lively up front.
"I thought defensively we were pretty sound today apart from a couple of chances that they created, limiting them to seven points. And three of that forward line played against in the Ulster minor semi-final last year," said Barrett.

"It's a learning curve. These boys have had very limited exposure to intercounty football. It's just a new level for them."
