Aodh Ruadh's Mark McGlynn holds off his man in their game against Ardara Picture: Thomas Gallagher
Aodh Ruadh had it easy once again as they proved too good for a disappointing Ardara side in Munday's Field.
Aodh Ruadh 1-15
Ardara 1-4
Not for the first time Nathan Boyle was central to the Ballyshannon men recording their fifth win of the campaign. Boyle had the opening score, a goal when he waltzed through the Ardara defence just short of the two minute mark and he added the last three points, as well as dominating in the air.
Ardara, without CJ Molloy due to a bereavement, look like a team that have lost any ambition to stay in the top flight. Despite being five points down after just eight minutes, they were content to hold the ball on their own '45' line as Aodh Ruadh went into defensive mode.
They registered just two points in the opening half, one of them gifted to them by a poor clearance on 13 minutes, the other coming just on the stroke of half-time, with both converted by John Ross Molloy.
Aodh Ruadh added points from Michael McKenna and Diarmaid McInerney after Boyle's opening goal but then went 13 minutes before their next score from Matt Gillespie. Mark McGlynn had their other score of the half less than a minute later. The first half was less than inspiring with Aodh Ruadh awarded just two frees.
Half-time: Aodh Ruadh 1-4, Ardara 0-2.
The second half did liven a little but Ardara could manage only three scores. Their points came from Tomas Boyle and a Paul Walsh '45' before the end of the third quarter, while John Ross Molloy hit a fine goal, after a good run through the centre with seven minutes left.
But the result was never in doubt as Aodh Ruadh matched the Ardara early scores with points from Darren Drummond, Diarmaid McInerney (one free) finding the range three times.
Shane McGrath and Niall Murray also hit the target before three late points from Nathan Boyle had the scoreboard operator getting plenty of work.
In all Aodh Ruadh had eight different scorers and the win leaves them joint second in the table, after a very good return to the top flight.
Aodh Ruadh scorers: Nathan Boyle 1-3; Diarmaid McInerney 0-4,1f; Darren Drummond, Shane McGrath 0-2 each; Mark McGlynn, Michael McKenna, Matt Gillespie (mark), Niall Murray 0-1 each.
