Glenties MD county councillor Denis McGee says the meeting aims to set up a committee to move forward with a plan to allow people to have ‘more access to the pier’
All stakeholders of Magheroarty Pier are being urged to attend a meeting to set up a committee regarding its future development.
Interested parties, including local fishermen and ferry operators serving Tory and Inisbofin islands from Magheroarty, are being asked to be present at the meeting, which is due to take place at 7pm on Friday, May 30, in Ionad Machaire Rabhartaigh.
Glenties MD county councillor Denis McGee, who hails from the area, says the meeting aims to set up a committee to move forward with a plan to allow people to have ‘more access to the pier.’

“It is important that a committee is formed so that we can discuss how people can have access for their boats all year round, not just sometimes depending on the tide,” McGee tells DonegalLive.
He also encouraged the younger generation to come along, as their voices are equally important: “It is vital for the next generation that we get the issues regarding the pier sorted, so I’m hoping that young people will be interested in creating a committee.”
