Coláiste Bhríde, Rann na Feirste
Capital funding of up to €230,490 for essential renovation and fire‑safety works at Coláiste Bhríde, Rann na Feirste, has been granted.
Minister for the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary TD made the announcement. The funding, sanctioned under the Community and Language Supports Programme, will contribute up to 50% of the approved project cost. The programme supports Gaeltacht committees in developing and upgrading community and language facilities that play a central role in sustaining Irish-language life.
Speaking following the announcement, Fianna Fáil’s Pat the Cope Gallagher said he welcomes the news.

“Coláiste Bhríde has been a cornerstone of education, culture, and community life in Rann na Feirste for generations,” he said. “This investment is both timely and necessary as the college approaches its centenary in 2026. The planned renovation and fire‑safety improvements will ensure that the college continues to provide a safe, modern, and welcoming environment for students from across the country.
“Summer colleges are vital to the future of the Irish language, and this funding demonstrates a strong commitment to supporting Gaeltacht communities and the facilities that sustain them. I commend the Minister for recognising the importance of Coláiste Bhríde and for backing this significant upgrade.”
Deputy Gallagher concluded by congratulating the management and community of Coláiste Bhríde and expressed confidence that the works will strengthen the college’s role for decades to come. A contractor has been formally awarded the project, with commencement anticipated within the next month.
