Charlie Patton took a terrific top ten in the Irish U14 Boys Amateur Open in Ballinasloe.

Patton, a member of the Letterkenny Golf Club, finished tenth at the Galway course, with a final score of 150, six over par.

The youngster was fifth after the first day, three off the lead after shooting one over par, and a second day score of 77 saw him drop down to tenth.

The competition was won by Spaniard Eduardo de la Macorra, who finished on even par both days, to win by two strokes.

The St Eunan’s College Student was fifth overall from the Irish competitors.
