First year students who will be attending Coláiste Chineál Eoghain in Buncrana will be delighted to hear the announced that all incoming first-years will receive their subject textbooks free of charge.
Parents and guardians of children starting second-level education can expect to pay approximately €300 for books as students enter second-level education so this news will be a welcome relief to many families who are worried about back-to-school costs.
Most subject textbooks now cover the entire Junior Cycle so this free book scheme will see students through for their first 3 years at the school.
Transition Year Coordinator Dáire Ó Néill said: “It is a help to families who have enough worries during a cost-of-living crisis, and we want to help in every way we can.
"Coláiste Chineál Eoghain is Inishowen’s only post-primary Irish Medium school and has been going since 2007 with Claire Doherty as Acting Principal."
