Doochary villagers to install CCTV following spate of vandalism

All eyes on Doochary now as villagers have decided to install CCTV to combat vandalism

Residents in Doochary have taken the dramatic step to have CCTV installed at various points in their village.

This follows a spate of mindless vandalism visited upon them by an individual or a group who, for reasons best known to themselves, have continually damaged the attempts to thwart the excellent work of the Doochary Development-Tidy Towns group who have poured their hearts and souls into making the West Donegal hamlet an even more attractive place to visit.

In a statement, the locals outlined their reasons for this latest move.

"Due to the amount of vandalism and serious fly tipping in and around the village, we have made the decision to have CCTV cameras installed in various locations and any person or persons caught on camera will be dealt with according to the law.

"The people who show such disrespect for our village and perform these atrocious acts deserve nothing more than to be held to account for their actions."

Their decision has brought a flood of support for the group with people offering to help with the costs.

A sad day when a group trying to do good for everyone is the target of such horrible behaviour.
