Moville GAA's Carrick Field
Moville GAA club’s plan to develop a new grass training pitch has been approved by Donegal County Council.
The Moville club had lodged a planning application with the planning authority in April for the new training pitch, and retention of a car park across the road from its existing grounds in Carnagarve.
The local authority has since approved the application for the 140m x 64m training pitch, with the necessary cut, fill and drainage, and the retention of the car park.
Permission for the erection of ball stops was also granted.
No third party observations were made in connection with the application, and the area roads engineer raised no concerns about the impact on traffic.
Last September, Moville GAA club was awarded a grant of €174,411 from the Government's Communities Sports Facilities Fund, previously known as the sports capital scheme.
The club says the additional playing area will enhance its overall facilities and provide greater flexibility for training, particularly when the main pitch is in use.

In his determination, planning officer Ryan Nelson said it was reasonable for the expanding club to seek to cluster its facilities and recommended approval, subject to standard conditions including the undergrounding of electrical cables, the retention of trees and hedgerows where possible, and the provision of ten parking spaces for bicycles.
