Donegal County Council grants planning for 25-home Falcarragh development

New development planned for Falcarragh

Donegal County Council has granted planning permission for the construction of 25 residential dwellings in Falcarragh. 

Permission was granted for the site off Station Road in Falcarragh for various types of residential dwellings, including 11 two-bedroom houses, six three-bedroom houses, and two separate apartment blocks, each containing four two-bedroom apartments. 

A landscaped open space area, and connection to existing on-site services, including wastewater treatment plant and all associated works, were included in the application. 

Michael and Linda Whoriskey were the listed applicants on the application.

Architects for the proposals, MH Associates, said that in “the proposed development has been carefully designed with the goal of achieving a balance between protecting existing residential amenity and providing a high-quality residential development within the settlement boundary,” and that in their opinion, “the proposed development represents a high quality residential scheme which has been designed to help to diversify the housing stock in Falcarragh.”

Donegal County Council granted planning permission for the project with 24 conditions. Conditions included the “adequate security” prior to the commencement of development by the developer, in the sum of €375,000, in the form of a cash deposit, a bond of a banking or insurance company, or any other security that the council may approve, for the provision and completion of all services required including roads, sewers, footpaths, and other services. 

A further condition is the payment of €50,617.75 as a contribution in respect of public infrastructure and facilities benefitting the development in the area of the Planning Authority that is already provided or is intended will be provided by the Authority.
