Donegal Town’s Bluestack Foundation CEO thrilled by new activity units permission

Bluestack Foundation in Donegal Town

The acting Chief Executive Officer of the Bluestack Foundation said she was delighted after the Donegal Town-based charity earned planning permission to construct two activity units next to their main building.

Laura Cassidy told Donegal Live that the new activity units would mean the charity could expand their services for both adults and children.

She said: “We are delighted and thrilled to get our planning permission for the adjoining site next door to the Bluestack Foundation’s main building in Donegal Town.

“The site is going to be used to build two new units which is going to house our whole adult department. So everything in our current training and progression department is going to move outside and utilise that space so we can separate the children’s services from our adult services with the aim of expanding of both services.”

Planning permission was granted by Donegal County Council with 13 conditions, which were included for the interests of orderly development and public health, preserving the amenities of the area, and traffic safety amongst other reasons.

The Bluestack Foundation was established nearly two decades ago, to provide direct supports to people with additional needs themselves and direct supports to family and carers.

Over 90 volunteers contribute their time to the foundation alongside 45 full or part-time staff, serving over 400 members throughout Donegal thanks to their expansion and outreach programme.
