Planning permission has been sought to convert a semi-derelict property in Mountcharles into two self-contained apartments.

Listed applicants, James and Conor McCabe, submitted the application to Donegal County Council for the change of use of the existing two-storey townhouse on Main Street, Mountcharles, to two apartments, including connection to existing services and all associated site works.

Declan McCabe, of McCabe Architects, wrote: “The works will include the conversion of the existing building into two self-contained residential units. The ground floor will be converted into a self-contained apartment with its own independent access from Main Street. The upper floor will be converted into a separate apartment, accessed via an existing entrance from the adjoining side street.

“The external facades addressing both public streets will be carefully restored, using appropriate materials and traditional detailing in keeping with the character of the building and its setting.”

Donegal County Council has yet to announce a decision due date for the application.
