Air Quality Monitor ‘could be very important’ for Stranorlar bypass funding

Cllr McGowan called for full-time Air Quality Monitor in Stranorlar

Lifford Stranorlar Municipal District Councillor, Patrick McGowan, called for the installation of an Air Quality Monitor in Stranorlar, stating it could help with future bypass funding. 

Speaking at October’s Lifford Stranorlar MD meeting, Cllr McGowan proposed the local Garda Station as a prime candidate for the location of an Air Quality Monitor.

He said: “I am not happy with the progress. We are looking to get a proper full-time air quality monitor that would measure the effects of traffic jams and the environment.

“This could be very important in the future when it comes to funding for bypasses and things like that.”

In response, the Council Executive member stated that the Council Engineer “doesn’t seem to have an issue with installing the monitor in Ballybofey and Stranorlar.”
