Donegal County Council receives planning application for new Bundoran caravan park

Planning applicant describes proposed Bundoran Caravan Park as an 'urgent need'

Plans have been submitted for a caravan and campervan park in Bundoran

Planning permission is being sought from Donegal County Council for the construction of a touring caravan and campervan site comprising 41 pitches in Bundoran, and was described as “an urgent need.”

The plans also include a shower and toilet block with connection to the main sewer and all associated siteworks, for the proposed site off the R267 in the west of Bundoran.

Writing on behalf of the applicant, Patrick Heaney, James McLaughlin of October House Designs Ltd said: “On foot of consultations undertaken on the Bundoran Town Plan, the lands have been zoned as being suitable for use as a Caravan Park in the current County Development Plan.

“The site is served by a well-established entrance served by the main town footpath system and enjoys existing vision lines suitable for the proposed development.”

McLaughlin concluded: “The urgent need of such a facility in Bundoran, as has been frequently highlighted over the past number of years in the media.

“This summer we have had the usual appeals for the development of a serviced site for tourist campervans/touring caravans, and my client has actively been trying to fill that need for the last number of years.”

In 2004, conditional planning was approved by Donegal County Council for the erection of 14 houses on the land now proposed for the new caravan and campervan park.

Donegal County Council has set a decision due date of January 7, 2026, for the submitted planning application.
