The former TSA Tyre Centre in Ballybofey
Donegal County Council has granted conditional planning permission for a new hardware store to be located at the site of the former TSA Tyre Centre, adjacent to the former Barnes View Fuel Station.
The listed applicant, Glenside Stores Ltd, based on the Glenfin Road, successfully applied for the change of use from a tyre depot to a hardware sales premises, along with internal modifications, provision for a sheltered canopy, external signage to the building, replacement of the existing totem pole signage to the front of the premises, and all associated site development works.
Situated off the N15, near Ballybofey’s town centre, the site was sold by the Maguire family, who had been running the filling station and tyre business for approximately 45 years, when they sold the business and closed it on June 30, 2025.
Chris Maguire, who had been managing the business onsite since 2019, took the reins of the business when his brother, Pat Maguire, passed away.

Donegal County Council granted planning permission for the proposal, with 12 conditions, including a condition imposing maximum opening hours for the business.
A condition was also imposed that the applicant shall pay a contribution of €631.67, in respect of public infrastructure and facilities benefiting development in the area of the Planning Authority that is already provided or is intended to be provided by the Authority.
