Gardaí appeal for witnesses following fatal Ballybofey road traffic collision 

Following this afternoon's single vehicle fatal road traffic collision in Ballybofey gardaí have issued an appeal for witnesses.

The scene has been preserved and the road is currently closed to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information is asked to contact them at Letterkenny Garda Station on 074 9167100, The Garda Confidential Line, 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.

The collision occurred on the R252, Glenfin Road, Ballybofey at approximately 4.15pm. 

Two women, aged 19 and 38 years, were fatally injured when the car they were travelling in left the road, collided with a pole and came to a stop in a parking area for trucks. 

One of the women, 19 years, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second woman, 38 years, was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

A male, 40’s, travelling in the car, suffered non life threatening injuries and was also taken to Letterkenny University Hospital. No other injuries were reported, the gardaí have stated.
