Glowing tributes were paid to John Gavigan last night at a fantastic night in his honour in Dorrian's Imperial Hotel, Ballyshannon.

Tall tales and some serious moments were intermingled on a night where's John's contribution as Ballyshannon Fire Station Officer and his contribution at all levels were recognised by colleagues and friends.

Those in attendance heard about John's ability as Fire Station officer, his courage and his great way with people. The Gavigan and Bromley families were well represented on a night where a true gentleman was giving a fitting tribute.

John returned thanks to all and spoke of his admiration for those who served with him over the years and said it had been a real honour to serve his local community.
