Man due in court this afternoon following fatal collision in Donegal

A 22-year-old man is due in court later this afternoon charged in relation to the fatal collision in Donegal on Thursday.

The incident happened at around 7.45pm at Dooballagh, Letterkenny, Co. Donegal.

A 55-year-old man driving a red Toyota Hilux 4×4 suffered serious injuries following a collision with a black Mazda, he later died in Letterkenny University Hospital from injuries sustained. A 33-year-old woman who was the passenger in the Mazda was also sent to hospital.

The 22-year-old driver of the Mazda fled the scene and was subsequently arrested.

He is due to appear before a special sitting of Carrick on Shannon District Court at 4.30pm today charged in relation to the crash.

Gardaí are still appealing for witnesses to the incident and ask anyone with information to contact Letterkenny Garda Station on 074-9167100 , the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
