Cllr McGowan at Knock Crossroads
Funding has been secured for safety works at one of the county’s worse accident black spots.
Knock Crossroads, Ballybofey has been the scene of multiple accidents over the years according to local councillor, Patrick McGowan who has secured funding to make the crossroads safer.
He said he has received confirmation from the Stranorlar roads office that the funding has been secured for safety works at the crossroads and further funding also for the at the Old Mill Rockfield road Navenny, also in Ballybofey.
"There has been multiple accidents at Knock Crossroads over the years with some vehicles going through this busy junction apparently unaware that oncoming vehicles had the right of way. Only last week we saw another accident with emergency services in attendance which is now becoming an all too regular occurrence.
"A list of works are being designed by the Council to highlight the junction , improve vision lines and install further signage," he added.
He said the works at Rockfield Road Dreenan is to pipe the Old Mill drain on the road edge which is very wide and deep.
Last year a number of people were lucky to escape when their car landed upside down in this drain.
