Last orders called at McCallion’s Bar

It is the end of an era in Buncrana as McCallion’s Bar closed its doors for the final time.

The family-run pub has been serving the people of Buncrana and the surrounding communities for several decades.

The closure of the pub on the main street for the final time two weeks ago marked the end of an era for the family, its neighbors, and the surrounding communities.

The pub has been a staple of the market square under the ownership and management of Seamus McCallion and his sons Adrian and Paul. Before becoming McCallion’s Bar, it was Chino's in the early 90s, and in earlier years it was known as The Silver Dollar.

In 1990, Sinead O'Connor was filming for the movie ‘Hush A Bye Baby’ in Donegal. Sinead dropped into the bar along with her crew members to watch the first ever broadcast of the video for Nothing Compares 2U, which went live on MTV. Chino's was one of the very few venues in Donegal with satellite TV at that time.

Several posts were shared on social media in recent days, reminiscing over fond memories from nights out in the bar to wishing the McCallions well in the future.
