Scoil Mhuire Buncrana proudly hosted its annual Trade Fair, an eagerly anticipated event that brought together creativity, innovation, and community spirit.

Students from all year groups took part, presenting an impressive range of handcrafted goods, services, raffles, and competitions. Their displays highlighted not only their creativity but also their growing confidence in sales, marketing, and enterprise.

The school explains how the Trade Fair serves as a valuable opportunity for students to demonstrate their entrepreneurial talents in a real-world setting. By engaging in product development, customer interaction, and business promotion, students gain hands-on experience, complementing the school curriculum.

The event aligns closely with key subject areas such as Business, LCVP, and LCA, reinforcing classroom learning through practical application.

The Trade Fair captured the festive spirit and offered a wonderful platform for students to tap into the Christmas market. The atmosphere this year was particularly energetic, with a tremendous buzz throughout the school as students enthusiastically showcased their work.

The beautifully crafted items produced by the Special Classes once again proved to be extremely popular.

Among the standout moments of this year’s event was the highly anticipated raffle for a dirt bike, won by Orla Strain. The team behind the draw – Eoin Kelly, Conal Lavery, Dan Magee, and Seimí McCallion – went on to secure first place in the Intermediate Group category with their outstanding project.

This year’s judging panel included Ms Annette McGonagle, Mr Ciaran Boyce, of the Donegal Enterprise Board, and Ms Anna McColgan, from the Inishowen Development Partnership. Their expertise and support contributed greatly to the success of the event.

The Annual Trade Fair has become one of the highlights of the school year in Scoil Mhuire, fostering teamwork, creativity, and community engagement.

“We are deeply grateful to our parent body for their ongoing support and encouragement, particularly in helping students prepare for this exciting event. Their involvement plays a vital role in making the Fair such a memorable and successful occasion,” a school spokesperson said.

They added: “Scoil Mhuire congratulates all participating students on their outstanding efforts and looks forward to building on this year’s success in future events.”
