Inishowen community is asked to step forward for local sick children

Buncrana’s Children’s Charity (BCC) is seeking Inishowen folk to join its new Volunteer Panel .

Buncrana’s Children’s Charity (BCC) is calling on people from across Inishowen to lend a helping hand as it launches a new Volunteer Panel aimed at supporting local families and sick children.

The Charity announced the initiative as part of its 10th anniversary celebrations, with a range of events and fundraising activities planned throughout the year.

The newly created Volunteer Panel offers a flexible way for community members to get involved without committing to a formal committee role. Volunteers will be able to assist at community events, fundraising drives, and charity initiatives whenever their schedules allow.

Organisers say the initiative is designed to make volunteering more accessible for people who want to support the charity but may not have the time for regular meetings or long-term commitments.

Buncrana’s Children’s Charity Chairperson Adrian McMyler said the charity hopes the panel will strengthen community involvement during an important milestone year.

“We know many people in our community want to help but may not have the time to commit to a committee. The Volunteer Panel is the perfect way to get involved, even if it’s only helping out at the occasional event,”  Mr. McMyler said.

“Every bit of support makes a difference. Our volunteers help us continue the work of supporting local children and families who need it most.”

The BCC Chairperson added that the charity’s 10th anniversary provides an ideal opportunity for new supporters to get involved.

“This year marks the 10th anniversary of Buncrana’s Children’s Charity, and we have some fantastic celebrations planned. It would be wonderful to welcome new volunteers to be part of that journey and help us continue making a difference in our community.”

To join the Volunteer Panel, applicants must be aged 18 or over and complete Garda vetting through the charity, which will be supported by the committee. Volunteers should also be comfortable engaging with the public, willing to help at community events, and enjoy working as part of a team.

Anyone who would like to get involved is encouraged to contact the charity by email at buncranaschildrenscharity@gmail.comor by phone on +353 87 481 4654.

Buncrana’s Children’s Charity says even a small amount of time can make a meaningful difference for local families. “Help us help our local sick children.”
