The Youth-Led Social Innovation ‘Speak Out’ Tour 2026 arrived in Sligo last week, where 195 students from across Counties Donegal, Leitrim, Clare, Mayo, Cavan, Sligo and Roscommon presented projects addressing key social and environmental issues affecting their communities.
Among the students to take part was a group from Moville Community College in Inishowen.
The event formed part of the national Speak Out tour, which empowers young people to speak confidently about the changes they want to see and the actions they are taking to create impact.
Students explored elderly loneliness and the importance of intergenerational connection, alongside projects focused on biodiversity protection and environmental sustainability. Teams also celebrated and examined the role of local heritage in strengthening community identity and pride.
