Volunteers make 'difficult decision to step away' from Clonmany Festival committee

The Clonmany Festival is one of the most successful country music events in the country, attracting thousands of spectators to the village every summer.

Several volunteers have confirmed they have made the ‘difficult decision to step away’ from organising the Clonmany Festival, ‘with immediate effect’.

In a statement posted on the festival’s Facebook page, the volunteers said the decision was made ‘following a period of increasing pressure and evolving demands.’

This has not been an easy choice, particularly given the dedication and passion that has gone into developing the festival over the years.”

Recent changes, including new licensing requirements from Donegal County Council, highlight how the festival is growing and evolving, bringing new opportunities alongside added responsibilities. While some volunteers have experienced significant stress, the priority remains the well-being of everyone involved.”

They continued: “We believe this moment represents an opportunity for a new organising group to bring fresh energy and operate under the appropriate structures to support the festival’s continued success and role in supporting the wider community. Planning for Clonmany Festival 2026 is already underway, with bands secured, providing a strong foundation for those who take on the role.”

Importantly, those stepping back remain fully supportive of the festival’s future and are willing to share their knowledge and experience to ensure a smooth transition.”
