Moville’s Joe Bredin was deservedly recognised for his outstanding contribution to local football when he received the prestigious Inishowen League Services to Football Award at the league's annual presentation dinner in Ballyliffin.

A lifelong servant of Moville Celtic, Joe has played an integral role in the club's development and success over many decades. A former vice-chairman and committee member, he was instrumental in securing the land on which the club's excellent facilities now stand, including its pitch, astro facility and clubhouse at Glencrow.

Joe also enjoyed considerable success as a manager, guiding Moville Celtic to major honours including the Inishowen League title, the Fruit of the Loom Cup, the West End League Cup and the Carn Summer Cup. He also managed the club during its spell in the Ulster Senior League.

The Moville man devoted countless hours as the club's groundsman, taking exceptional pride in maintaining the facilities at the Bayfield and Glencrow, ensuring they were always presented to the highest standard. His dedication and attention to detail helped create an environment that players, officials and supporters could be proud of.

To this day, Joe continues to support Moville Celtic in every way possible. He has always been available to offer advice, assistance and encouragement to successive committees whenever needed.

An Inishowen League spokesperson said Joe embodies everything that is best about volunteerism in local football. His unwavering commitment, selfless service and passion for the game have left a lasting legacy at Moville Celtic.

The honour is a fitting recognition for a man whose contribution to football in Inishowen has been immense.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Sport and Postal Policy Charlie McConalogue, who presented the award, has described Joe as a most deserving recipient.

“Joe has been a loyal and dedicated member of Moville FC for many years and has served the club in several different roles during his long association with the club. I was delighted to present him with the Services to Football Award at the Inishowen League’s presentation night in Ballyliffin.”

“The work that Joe has done for Moville Celtic FC is invaluable, and it’s the efforts from people like Joe that keep clubs together. Joe is such a deserving recipient of the award, and I congratulate him on being recognised for all he has done for his club down the years,” Minister McConalogue added.
