The latest emergency health units have been installed at Mamore Gap, Shroove and Buncrana

Inishowen Credit Union has continued its investment in community health and safety with the installation of three additional life-saving defibrillators at busy locations across the peninsula.

The latest units have been installed at Mamore Gap near Clonmany, at the Big White Bay beach in Shroove and at the Angling Centre at the entrance to Swan Park in Buncrana.

The new additions build on several other defibrillators funded and installed by the Credit Union across Inishowen over the past year as part of its ongoing Community Fund initiative.

The Credit Union said the programme is designed to support local communities by improving access to emergency equipment in both busy public areas and more remote locations.

One of the newest installations is located at Mamore Gap, where a specially designed solar-powered base was put in place to ensure the defibrillator remains operational in the exposed upland location.

Inishowen Credit Union thanked Richard and the team at Mindoran Construction for installing the solar-powered base and acknowledged the support of Clonmany Community First Responders, who have agreed to maintain and monitor the unit going forward.

Another defibrillator has been installed at the Big White Bay in Shroove, a popular Blue Flag beach that attracts large crowds, particularly during the summer months.

Credit Union representatives said the presence of a publicly accessible defibrillator at the location could make a vital difference in an emergency situation.

A number of local individuals and organisations were praised for their efforts in helping deliver the Shroove project.

Michael and Lochlann, from Mulhall Contracts, fitted the defibrillator cabinet, while Paddy Gillespie worked on a solar-powered battery system designed to keep the cabinet heated and operational.

Local resident Terri Scott has agreed to regularly monitor and check the unit, while Greencastle Coast Guard will assist with ongoing battery and replacement pad costs. Special recognition was also given to Charlie Cavanagh for helping coordinate the project.

Meanwhile, a further defibrillator has now been installed at the Angling Centre at Swan Park in Buncrana. Inishowen Credit Union thanked the Buncrana Community First Responder Group for agreeing to take responsibility for maintaining the unit and ensuring it remains fully operational at all times.

Special thanks were also extended to Cllr Jack Murray for his support in helping deliver both the Buncrana and Mamore Gap installations.

Inishowen Credit Union said it is proud to support initiatives that strengthen community wellbeing and ensure life-saving equipment is available when and where it is needed most across the peninsula.
