Gallery: Packed Buncrana celebrates St Patrick's Day in style

Buncrana’s St Patrick’s Day parade was the highlight of the town’s celebrations for the national saint’s feast day, bringing hundreds onto the streets.

More than 20 floats representing local businesses, schools and sports clubs took part.

The parade followed the usual routes around the town, with most of the crowds gathered on Main Street, which had been turned into a sea of festive green thanks to the efforts of local businesses and the parade committee.

The new committee had been putting in place events leading up to the parade including a ‘snake hunt’ run by Glor Inis Eoghain as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge, as well as music events.

The new chair of the committee, Ryan Stewart: “Our new committee has only been formed a matter of weeks, but the people in the team are very capable and energised for the future of the parade."
