The Rescue 118 Coast Guard helicopter has helped in the search
The family of a man who went missing earlier this month has thanked everyone who has helped and supported them in the search.
Gardaí launched an appeal to the public for information following reports of a man in his early 70s entering the sea at Lagacurry beach, Isle of Doagh, on Saturday, October 5.
Searches have been carried along the coast by Coast Guard units from both Greencastle and Mulroy, MRCC Coast Guard Malin Head, the Rescue 118 Sligo-based helicopter, the RNLI and gardaí.
In a statement, the wife and family of Criostoir MagFhearaigh expressed their appreciation to everyone who has helped and supported the search, including neighbours and family, gardaí, coast guard and helicopter crews.
“To all who have prayed and sent messages of support. We thank you with all our hearts,” the family said.
In the appeal for information, a garda spokesperson said: “An Garda Síochána is particularly appealing to fishermen working in the area, landowners with coastal shoreline and any persons engaged in any activity in this coastal area to be aware of this investigation and report any information to An Garda Síochána.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Buncrana garda station on 074 932 0540, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any sarda station.”
