Judge orders Mountcharles resident to pay €338 for motor tax offence

Defendant given €200 fine and ordered to pay €138 costs
A Mountcharles resident has been ordered to pay a combined €338 in fines and costs by Judge Éiteáin Cunningham at Donegal District Court, after being convicted of a motor tax offence.
Izabela Pawloska, of 2 Hillcourt, Glencoagh, Mountcharles, did not appear at the hearing at Ballyshannon Courthouse.
She was found guilty of an offence on December 16, 2025, being the registered owner of a vehicle parked at Water Street, Donegal Town without a current road licence displayed in contravention of Section 5(5) of the Road Traffic Act 1920, contrary to Section 73(1) and Section 76 (as amended by Section 63 of the Finance Act 1994) of the Finance Act 1976 and thereby committing an offence under the act.
Judge Cunningham said that she was satisfied to proceed in Pawloska’s absence.
The court heard that no valid task disk was displayed on the vehicle, and that the fine had yet to be paid.
Judge Cunningham found the facts proven and convicted and fined Pawloska €200, plus costs of €138, payable within four months, noting that there were no previous convictions for Pawloska.
