Devlin Hall has been transformed by Letterkenny Youth Club in recent years
Letterkenny Youth Club has been praised for the “amazing” work it has put into rejuvenating the former Devlin Hall site.
Cllr Gerry McMonagle outlined the success of the project so far at a recent meeting of Letterkenny-Milford MD.
Donegal County Council’s Town Urban Regeneration Team will now enter discussions with Letterkenny Youth Club in relation to their plans, with a view to making the project part of the Urban Regeneration Plan.
“We recently were invited down for a tour of facilities and it is nothing short of amazing,” said Cllr McMonagle.
“It had been dilapidated and down to the hard work of the community, it is now a well-operational youth club.”

Cathaoirleach Ciaran Brogan seconded the motion, saying that the members of the youth club “deserve huge credit” and that the project has “huge potential”.
The motion was passed and a workshop is to follow.
“The motion is noted and the Council are committed to advancing regeneration projects in Letterkenny that will benefit the youth of our community,” said Patricia McIntyre, Town Regeneration Officer. “We wish to confirm that the Regeneration Team commenced some capacity testing through internal Council staffing resources of the former Devlin Hall site earlier this year to inform possible land acquisition and designs for youth services at this location.
“As part of this process, the Council engaged with relevant youth service stakeholders including Donegal Youth Services. The Council are keen to complete this capacity testing work, which has been delayed due to other work priorities.
“We are currently exploring options to complete the work through the procurement of external consultancy services. Our overall objective is to position the project for a future funding call.
