Letterkenny barber Gerry McKeever held a book signing for his latest release, Saving Democracy: A Proactive Plan.

The book signing was held at The Bookmark in Letterkenny Shopping Centre. The book is inspired by Gerry’s idea of an ideal democratic situation in Ireland. He has a keen interest in democracy and politics and also ran as an independent candidate in the 2024 general election.

Gerry spoke to DonegalLive about the book and explained that it details not only his idea of a new political party in Ireland, but also a proactive plan for how this could be set up. He hopes the book appeals to people “who give a damn and have a social conscience” who may be willing to turn their attention towards democratic affairs.

This is the second book Gerry has published following the release of Benocracy - Democracy’s Last Chance, in 2021.

Gerry said he enjoyed the book signing and hearing feedback from people who have already bought it.

“Sales are good and some people are very encouraging because they see that the idea and plan are feasible,” he added.

Gerry would also like to thank everyone at The Bookmark shops in Letterkenny Shopping Centre and The Courtyard Shopping Centre.
