Donegal author Erín Daimhín has published a new book called Transient Tides.

It recounts the story of an Irish woman growing up in rural Donegal during the 1960s and 70s. It offers a detailed account of the highs and lows of her life and the significant challenges she faced.

At six, she is abducted from her home in broad daylight by a stranger. She becomes the family scapegoat, subjected to strict discipline. She learns to be invisible at home and at school, and earns the title "the odd one" in her family.

In her early thirties, following a brief marriage, she encounters significant challenges with the clergy assigned to handle her case for church annulment proceedings.

Around the same time, she develops recurring abdominal pain and is diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. Seeking help from a ‘healer priest’ brings further turmoil when he makes unwelcome advances.

Her condition soon becomes critical, and she collapses at home. When she wakes in intensive care, she realises her life will never be the same. Over the next two years, her days will be filled with doctors, hospital wards, and various medical procedures. Her life is also filled with many interesting encounters with people who bring her support and comfort. Her resilience and determination to recover make her story compelling.
