A man wearing a balaclava attempting to break into a home in Trentagh near Letterkenny was rumbled when a CCTV camera alerted the homeowner to activity on their property.
Gardaí investigating this sinister incident say it occurred at a house at Sockar, Trentagh, shortly after 2.20am on Wednesday 18 March.
A notification from an external CCTV camera notified the homeowner that activity was taking place outside the house and footage established that a man, wearing dark clothing and obscuring his features by wearing a balaclava, had been on the grounds of the home.
While nothing was stolen, gardaí in Milford are appealing for anyone who observed any type of suspicious activity in Trentagh, whether from vehicles or people on foot, at that time to get in touch. Gardaí are particularly interested in any drivers who were in the area after midnight on St Patrick’s Day and into the early morning hours of 18 March and who have dash-cam footage.
Anyone with information can contact Milford Garda Station on 07491 53060 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
