Letterkenny man Gary Ramsey has completed a week living in a shed at the Market Square for charity.

Gary spent seven nights in a 10×8-foot wooden shed outside of the Market Centre on Letterkenny’s Lower Main Street in aid of Donegal Hospice.

Today at 12 noon, Gary’s 168 hours were up and he was met by Alfie Greene of Greene’s shoeshop and Deborah Toland and Isobel Rodgers from Donegal Hospice.

Afterwards, Gary was just glad to get the chance to get home and get washed after washing himself with wipes for the past week.

“The countdown is on,” Gary said on Thursday before his last night. “Not great sleeping but nearly there now. I watched a bit of a film on my phone. The streets were empty and it was lashing from the heavens. All the sponsors have been amazing and I can’t thank people enough.”

Gary was raising money via a bucket collection whilst sleeping out in Letterkenny and donations can also be made on iDonate on Gary Ramsey Fundraiser for Donegal Hospice, where almost €3,500 has been gathered already.

"I would really appreciate anything you can donate to this amazing charity," Gary said as he launched the charity drive. "I have had my own personal experiences up in the hospice and can't thank them enough for the kindness shown so anything you can donate would be greatly appreciated by the wonderful staff
