All children looking to secure a place at Little Angels Special School in Letterkenny in September will be accommodated.
Following intensive engagement between the Department of Education and HSE, an agreement has been reached which will see up to four modular classrooms from the current site continuing to be utilised, creating additional capacity at the school.
Deputy Pearse Doherty posted: "Delighted that we have confirmation that the children denied a place in Little Angels will now be accommodated. Well done to all the mothers who campaigned for what is their child’s constitutional right.
"It shouldn’t have taken mothers camping outside the Dáil to get this result. They deserve a huge congratulations for their campaign. Let’s now work for the permanent solution"
Confirmation came from the Minister for Special Education, Michael Moynihan, which has been welcomed by Donegal Minister of State Charlie McConalogue.
“I’m delighted for the children and their parents that they will be assured of a place at Little Angels for the new school year,” the Minister of State with Special Responsibility for Sport and Postal Policy commented.

“I know that this is something that has been a source of stress and concern for the nine families who have applied for a place at Little Angels in September and who had faced a number of weeks of uncertainty. Confirmation that places have been secured for all concerned will give the parents the much-needed certainty they need and deserve.
“Minister Moynihan met with parents of the children last week in Leinster House and listened carefully to their concerns. I’d like to thank Minister Moynihan who worked with myself and other local public representatives to ensure that a solution to this situation was found. Thanks the HSE for making sure that the school gets the use of the modular units. Thanks also to the school management for their great work on behalf of the school community.”
Pat the Cope Gallagher TD said: "Thanks to the Minister and the HSE for securing this arrangement. Special thanks to the Parents for their perseverance, thus ensuring a positive outcome and a final thanks to my Parliamentary colleagues, all of whom worked closely together to secure a favourable outcome."
