Letterkenny's Cathedral Quarter gearing up for Culture Night

Volunteers will be available to share stories from the collections and outline ongoing work to preserve and promote Letterkenny’s heritage
Letterkenny’s St. Eunan's Cathedral will become a stage for local history this Culture Night, as Elusive Theatre presents a unique Living History walking tour celebrating the building’s 125-year story on Friday, September 18.
The Ghosts of Saint Eunan’s Cathedral, with a script by Kieran Kelly, will take place at 6.15pm and 7.30pm, with each tour lasting approximately 25–30 minutes. Tours will begin at the Cathedral’s front door.
Visitors will meet historical figures from across the Cathedral’s history, each giving their own unique perspective on Letterkenny's most famous landmark.
Through these characters, audiences will hear stories of the Cathedral’s construction, the fundraising efforts that made it possible, the craftsmen who built it and some of the significant events and people connected with the building over 125 years ago.
The Living History experience is complemented by the Cathedral Quarter Open Office at No. 3 Church Lane, which will open from 6pm to 9pm.
The free open evening will feature an extensive collection of local heritage material, including historic photographs, newspaper articles, exhibition posters, maps and memorabilia charting the history and development of the Cathedral Quarter. Volunteers will be available to share stories from the collections and outline ongoing work to preserve and promote Letterkenny’s heritage. Both Culture Night events are free and open to the public.
