Donegal County Council has been asked to help find a permanent home for a long-established youth club in the Twin Towns.
Putting forward a motion at the September meeting of the Stranorlar Municipal District (MD), Councillor Patrick McGowan called on the local authority to do what it can to identify and secure a suitable site or building for Planet Youth.
“This local youth club has been renting for many decades, and for the club to be secure for the next number of decades, they need a permanent place,” he said.
“If this means going to other agencies like Donegal ETB, then so be it”.

Seconding the motion, Cllr Martin Scanlon said the council needs to give them all the support they can.
“Some organisations have great buildings but no active committee, but we have the opposite in the case of Planet Youth,” he said.
In response, Kathleen Browne of the council’s Community Development section, said they will meet with the group to establish what their needs are.
