Sheephaven Sub Aqua club have benefitted to the tune of €810 thanks to a lucky dip from Donegal Gardai.

Under the Police property Act, Gardai told Letterkenny District Court that €810, which was found in the town, had been handed into Letterkenny Garda Station and never claimed.

Garda Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that, due to the owner not coming forward, the State was seeking an order for the forfeiture of the cash.

Sergeant Collins suggested the cash be donated to the Sheephaven Sub Aqua Club.

Sheephaven SAC provides recreational scuba diving, while also providing a fully trained community based volunteer search and recovery unit, should they be needed in the times of water-based tragedies.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham agreed and ordered the money to be donated to the club.
