Nathan Wray from Donegal Town has been honoured at a special awards ceremony at ATU Sligo where he is a student.
This event was held to celebrate his achievements after obtaining a second and third place in consecutive years in the WorldSkills Ireland Final Competition in Carpentry. This combined with his recent accomplishment of receiving a First-Class Honours degree in Construction Project Management and Applied Technology.
In attendance at the ceremony were Úna Parsons, Head of College ATU Sligo and Head of Faculty of Engineering and Design, and Trevor McSharry, Head of Department Civil Engineering and Construction, ATU Sligo.
Trevor congratulated Nathan, saying: “It is wonderful to see the high quality practical teaching contained within our degree of Construction Project Management and Applied Technology show through at these competitions.”
Also in attendance was Nathan’s employer, James McCabe of Ferm Engineering, and Nathan’s father, Adrian Wray who himself is a noted craftsman with his own bespoke joinery business, Wray Woodcraft.
Nathan trained for the WorldSkills Ireland Competition with ATU lecturer John Joe O’Reilly, who said: “Nathans’ achievements highlight his skills, precision, geometrical knowledge and determination.
“Nathan had great experience from working with his father Adrian in the family business, and we are very proud of his results, in both his studies and National Competition achievements while attending ATU Sligo.”
