Noreen McGarvey's family held a memorial table quiz in Caislean Oir, Annagry
The table quiz held in memory of Noreen McGarvey has been described as a “huge success”.
The quiz organised by the McGarvey family from Meenmore was held in Caisleain Oir, Annagry and raised €4,200.
All proceeds from the night will now be divided between two worthy causes. Half of the donation will go to Shout Cancercare at the Sligo Hospital Oncology Unit Trust and the other to the Donegal Hospice to acknowledge the care Noreen received.
The quiz questions were provided by Noreen’s sister Debbie and the quizmaster was John Bosco O'Donnell.
“The venue was packed to capacity for a most enjoyable night,” event organisers said. “Many thanks to those who attended, those who sponsored all the prizes and draw, with special thanks to the management and staff of Caisleain Oir. Well done to all involved.”
Noreen McGarvey, a Burtonport native, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 28, in the care of the staff of the Donegal Hospice.
Noreen served as a Fianna Fáil Councillor having been elected to Donegal County Council in 2019. She was named as Cathaoirleach of the Glenties Municipal District in 2020, having been nominated to the position by fellow Councillors Anthony Molloy and Micheál Choilm Mac Giolla Easbuig.
