There were great scenes of celebration at the Lakehouse Nursing Home in Portnablagh as Sarah Doherty toasted her 106th birthday.
Sarah, from Kinnelargey in Downings, marked the occasion in the company of relatives, friends and staff of the nursing home.
Among those joining in the celebrations were her two daughters, Nuala and Mary Josephine.
Other family and friends gathered to honour one of Ireland's oldest living people.
She was presented with a commemorative medal from the President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins. Jennifer Rankin, the Director of Nursing at the Lakehouse Nursing Home – where Sarah is held in the highest esteem - made the presentation.
A special cake was also made for the occasion.
