Glen village
Donegal County Council has been urged to carry out a speed survey and safety assessment in Glen Village.
Residents cannot enjoy some village amenities due to traffic, says Independent Councillor Declan Meehan.
Councillor Meehan said that Glen is seeing a growing amount of traffic, partly due to Google Maps directing traffic over Lough Salt and also due to the growing popularity of the award winning Olde Glen Bar and Restaurant.
Councillor Meehan pointed out that Glen has seen recent investment from Donegal County Council in the form of public seating and cycle routes, but “the opinion of local residents is that these can't be enjoyed safely at present".
The issue was raised at this month's meeting of the Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District. Councillor Meehan was told that a speed survey will be carried out to establish the speeds going through the village.

Letterkenny area Roads Engineer David McIlwaine added that the speed limits on the approach roads will be reduced to 60km/hr as part of the speed limit review and there will also be a review of the ordinance speed limits.
"I don't set much store in the reduced speed limits," Councillor Meehan responded.
