“After many years of dedication to rescuing and rehoming animals in need, we are no longer able to continue due to several challenges, including a lack of volunteers and funding.
“Additionally, the recent Storm Eowyn caused severe damage to our facilities, including the loss of our stables and significant damage to our cattery.
“This is not a decision we made lightly, and it is truly heartbreaking to bring this chapter to a close. However, we want to take this moment to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported us over the years.
“To our incredible donors and volunteers—we simply couldn’t have done this without you. Your generosity, time, and dedication made it possible for us to save and care for so many animals. Whether you donated food, supplies, or funds, or spent your days cleaning, feeding, transporting, or simply showing love to the animals—you made a difference. Your kindness gave so many animals a second chance at life, and for that, we are forever grateful.
“A special thank you to Ramelton Shore Vets for their unwavering support and excellent veterinary care. No matter the hour - day or night - they were always there when we needed them, providing emergency treatment, expert care, and kindness to the animals who needed it most. Their dedication and compassion have been invaluable to our rescue, and we will always be grateful for everything they have done.
“We also want to express our heartfelt thanks to SuperValu for hosting our pet food donation bin in the early days. Without their generosity and the kindness of those who donated, we simply would not have been able to support as many animals as we did.
“A special thank you as well to Animals in Need and Twin Towns Lost and Found for your ongoing support and kindness throughout the years. Your help has meant the world to us, and we couldn’t have done it without you.
“Though Burtonport Animal Rescue is closing, the love and care we’ve provided will never be forgotten. The animals we’ve saved, the connections we’ve made, and the community we’ve built will always remain in our hearts.
“From the bottom of our hearts - thank you.”
