The scholarships are part of a regional programme developed by Optum Ireland, a UnitedHealth Group company, in partnership with the University. The programme promotes diversity in higher education by supporting students from non-traditional and disadvantaged backgrounds.
Optum Ireland has a significant presence in Letterkenny, and the scholarship programme is open to Donegal students who have applied for designated health and data-related courses at the University of Galway and other institutions. Applications for the 2025/2026 academic year are currently open, with a deadline of 5pm, Friday, May 2.
