Peter Casey, inset, has submitted plans for development at Ludden House
Former Presidential candidate Peter Casey has resubmitted a planning application to develop apartments on the site of a 2023 fire in Buncrana.
The Greencastle-based entrepreneur has sought permission to demolish the fire-damaged Ludden House.
Mr Casey is seeking permission for the construction of two apartment blocks on the site. One of the proposed apartment blocks would be a three-storey building housing 12 apartments.
The second block would be a three-dropping-down-to-two block containing another 12 apartments.
Agreement in principle has been reached with Donegal County Council to transfer five units to the local authority for social housing.
Ludden House was significantly damaged by fire in May 2023, just weeks after plans were announced that the building was to be converted into an apartment complex to house refugees.
Donegal County Council say that a decision on the application by Mr Casey, of Claddagh Resources, will be made by December 17.

Mr Casey, originally from Derry, was second in the 2018 Presidential race, obtaining 342,727 votes. He subsequently stood for election to the European Parliament in 2019 and polled 56,650 votes, but was not elected in the Midlands-North West constituency.
A previous application in respect of the same site was withdrawn.
